Web Maps Now Display Parcels for Years 2005 through 2009

The shape and location of ownership tracts for prior appraisal years have now been added to DCAD's map display. When you are viewing the map at a scale that allows the parcels to be drawn, it is now possible to also display the parcels for any appraisal year between 2005 and 2009. The parcel map, which heretofore only displayed current appraisal year location information, can display any one of the available prior years along with the current year. This allows users to see what accounts existed in that area in any of five prior years.

The "Parcel Identify Current Year" selection tab will open the current year (2009) appraisal record details for a selected account. The "Identify" selection tab will return the account number for a parcel selected from any of the prior year parcel layers. To view prior year parcel outlines, click the box to make them visible, then hit the Refresh Map box. Select the radio button for the parcel year which you are interested, to make it the "Active" search layer. Then click on the map area for which you want an account number. The account number will display where the Legend information had been. The account number is hyperlinked to the Account History details page, so just click on the account number to see the details. Even if the account has been deleted you will be able to view the ownership and legal description for the account since 1999. This search will not work if the property is a condominium property.

Information on parcels that are located outside of Dallas County, which in prior years had been appraised by the Dallas Central Appraisal District, can be found by using the prior year parcel layers. Remember when reviewing prior year information that it may contain errors which have been corrected over the years.
